OhioHealth…From the Diversity Team
OhioHealth wants to know just how diverse The Inmate's business is. What ever will he do?
Sometime back I gave OhioHealth The Asylum's little coveted Unjust 100 award. It was well-deserved as they were requiring their employees and anyone who came into their facility to be vaccinated. I'm not sure if they still require it, as I cannot find anything about it on their website which makes me suspect they dropped it...but quietly, in an attempt to save face and not admit they were wrong to do so initially.
There is, unfortunately, this time-honored excuse that we are seeing more and more of now: it was right to do back then, but not now. Just like lockdowns were right back then, but we know now it's a bad idea because we need to sound reasonable. Vaccines for kids were right back then, but you might want to think about it now. We were idiots back then....and....we're still idiots.
You get the idea.
Recently I received this from OhioHealth as I do some work for them (yes, folks, I actually have a day job):
Action Required:
OhioHealth SuppliersYou are receiving this request from SupplierGATEWAY on behalf of the OhioHealth Supplier Diversity team.
OhioHealth is asking suppliers to register their company profile information in the SupplierGATEWAY supplier management portal. This will allow us to validate your supplier profile for accuracy, and, if applicable, identify your business as a diverse supplier.
Please complete this 60-second registration to continue.
…
Diverse categories include: Minority Owned, Woman Owned, Veteran Owned, Service Disabled Veteran Owned, HUBZone, LGBTQ Owned, Disabled Persons Owned, and Small Business.
…
First of all: a diversity team? Seriously, OhioHealth is paying a diversity team department...to do...what exactly? Send out emails like this so they can fill out their little spreadsheet and alert the news that they have 37% diversity in their suppliers?
They say this "will allow us to validate your supplier profile for accuracy, and, if applicable, identify your business as a diverse supplier." I wonder what happens if they identify my business as diverse? Do I get a medal or maybe a gold star on my next check? The gold star would be cool because then I could frame each check I get and make sure I drag my relatives into my office to see each and every gold star they send me. Probably just wishful thinking on my part.
I'm not going to fill it out because it DOES NOT MATTER. I don't want to know if my plumbers or electricians or doctors are diverse. I want to know if they are good at what they do. I don't care if they are black, white, man, woman, Asian, gay, lesbian, Protestant, Catholic or a combination of all them or the abominable snowman. I just care that when plumbers come to my house they know what the hell they are doing and don't overcharge me for their work. Hence, OhioHealth should NOT care about my "diversity" or lack thereof.
I do good work. That's what matters.
This article also appears on my website, The Asylum. The website also has several things that are not possible to do on Substack: The World Economic Forum Members Reference (thanks to Dr. Malone), Red State/Blue State reference showing Senate and House percentages by party affiliation, quotes, a large resources section, a robust search feature and some other things unique to the site: quizzes, word games and leaked communications. These latter three are satirical and funny, at least in my mind, but you'll have to be the ultimate judge on that.
I am encouraged by several folks who work for Anthem or contract with them who also refuse to participate in the nonsense. May more folks soon learn to just say no.
But my Aunt's, Uncle's, cousin's, brother's, girlfriend's, best friend's dog, needs to be seen by a black, Chinese, male to female, vegan transvestite veterinarian, who speaks Spanish, in Missouri. If you don't fill out your Ohio Health questionnaire thing, how will she ever know if your business supports, hires, or does business with a person that fits this description that does good work? 🤔🤨
