Oblivious
Don't worry, those imams don't really mean what they say. Have another latte.
The problem is that the West refuses to accept them [Muslim clerics] at face value. This blindness stems from deeply rooted habits in Western thinking: projecting its own values onto others, carrying the burden of post-colonial guilt, succumbing to ideological blindness, and suffering from a profound loss of cultural self-confidence.1

Accommodation becomes the path of least resistance—which, in Islamic political logic, is simply the first step toward submission.3
“Islam makes it incumbent on all adult males, provided they are not disabled or incapacitated, to prepare themselves for the conquest of countries so that the writ of Islam is obeyed in every country in the world. . . . But those who study Islamic Holy War will understand why Islam wants to conquer the whole world.” — Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini4
“People who say there is a conflict between sharia and Western democracy are right.” —Shaker Assem and the Islamic Liberation Party (Hizb ut-Tahrir) in Germany5
Islam uses the freedoms in the West to push Sharia, a system, that if implemented, will deny the very freedoms that helped, with the aid of political useful idiots, to establish it.

When the robber says "Imma gun cut yoo, foo!" you believe him.
When the politician says "No more taxes" you know he is lying.
So why is it, that so many cannot believe the obvious truth, just because the one proclaiming it is not of European racial-cultural origin?
It very racist of the liberals and progressives et al, to base their arguments on "Race/religion XYZ don't really understand what they are saying, and therefore they don't really mean it".
I often think Nassim Taleb is his own "intellectual yet idiot" but in this he's dead on:
