Glad you enjoyed it. I hope it can do some good somehow....my wife has just been texting some people in our family who are vaccinated and just got COVID again. She's trying to get across that masks don't work...but they are not buying it....and no doubt will continue to get boosted....frustrating.....

Your poem functions like an awesome meme. It's a riff on a known subject and form. A powerful analogy. "Oh shit" and "oh wow" at the same time.

I was at a loss for words after reading your poem. The light, loose yet tight lines and meter. It's got beautiful structure and such devastating force. We, people, always fall for the same things. It's so maddening, so horrific and yet so hard to avoid.

WRT family, my take has been not to force my views on people (which is hard to do, when you see loved ones setting themselves up to do something that will hurt them in the long run). When their doubts start to rise, they know that I'm a good one to ask. Is that cowardly?

War is the best analogy to where we are. You're the first one that I have seen draw this analogy so powerfully.

How did that war (Crimean) end, do you know?

Again, thanks. As far as family, I don't think it's cowardly. Too much too soon to someone with not nearly the context that we have probably won't do much good. My wife and I were just talking about this. We had a couple of relatives test positive for COVID and we offered Ivermectin from the stash we keep for just such a time as this. They took it....rather readily. So like you I really just want to be ready when our family members, hopefully, begin seeing the light and then maybe we can help with what they've done to themselves. That's what worries me....what do their futures look like? I had to look up the Crimean war. From Wikipedia: "The Crimean War[e] (October 1853 - February 1856)[4] was a military conflict in which Russia was defeated by an allied force consisting of the Ottoman Empire, United Kingdom, Piedmont-Sardinia, and France."
